4 levels from beginner to advanced :
Level 1 : Marmotte (Marmot)
Classic style
Goals
- Putting on and taking off skis
- Moving on the flat
- Getting up
- Skiing down gentle slopes
- Sliding snowplough
- Going up-hill using side step and herrigbone
- Learning about the local environment
- Mini treasure hunt
- Appreciation of skiing and playing games
Level 2 : Renard (Fox)
Classic ski
Goals :
- Basic cornering
- Short outings on varied terrain in good snow conditions
- Step turns on the flat and on gentle slopes, slalom with a view to learning skating
- Speed control
- Traversing
- Introduction to skating (using either classic or skating skis) learning the basic two-step,
diagonal skating step for climbing
- Games
- Countryside awareness (off piste skiing, learning to recognise the signs and tracks of wild
animals)
Level 3 : Chamois (Mountain Goat)
Classic and Skating styles
Goals :
- Parallel turns, jumps, games to promote better balance, mastery of speed and precision
- Ski on varied terrain in all conditions
- Skating (basic two-step and combined two-step)
- Practice classic style in good conditions
- Start to learn orientation techniques
- Continue to learn about nature and the environment
Level 4 : Lynx (Lynx)
Classic and Skating styles
Goals :
- Enjoyment of skiing in all its forms
- Learn to go downhill at speed, parallel turns, speed and precision
- Practice all the skating techniques (one-step, basic two-step, combined two-step, diagonal
skating step)
- Practice all the basic techniques for classic style using the appropriate equipment (diagonal
step, single stride, double poling and the linking of the different movements)
- Learn waxing techniques and how to look after equipment
- Good level of orientation skills and how to lead an outing
- Practical experience in environmental protection in association with representatives of the
Reserve
- Explication of the job of ski instructors and how to prepare for the entrance exams
